Re: Renault 14

Wow thats a rare find - I worked for a Renault main dealer when they were new and it would be true to say that they did rot rapidly, but a lot of cars of that time did. For me it would have to be either a R30 with the V6 engine or a Fuego Turbo. Renault built some really good cars at that time - the...

Re: first car

My first car was a MK1 Escort 1.3 2 door that I was given by my Cousin- That gives you an idea of the state it was in. I was about 14 at the time and was planning to restore it but ended up breaking it and selling the parts. First "proper legal" car was a light blue 1250 Hillman Avenger 4 door - I f...

Re: Tools

I have got Snap on ,Mac and Draper Pro stuff - had some of it for years. For sockets I really don't think you can beat Sanp-on - mine have been used and abused and are still going strong. That said two out of three of my Snap on ratchets have had it and slip like buggery. I was always told to buy th...

Re: Replacement Exhaust

I have previously used a company in Swindon called Bell silencers who were excellent and sourced parts I was told were obsolete - I believe they will make systems too, well worth a go.

Re: speed camera detector

Agree that the GPS products are by far the best - just need to update them frequently. I tried a Snooper (Non GPS) and it wasn't good to say the least - often went off for no reason then wouldn't go off when you drove past a camera. I took that back and got a GPS based product which was great: Try a...

Re: Halfords website is utter rubbish

Rare event today -actually bought something from Halfords - some white grease but did look at Wiper Blades for my modern Galaxy - £26.99 the pair. Yep, £26.99 - Genuine Ford ones are £9.99 each so suffice to say I didn't buy the Halfords ones. As I paid the spotty yuff did ask me if I had everything...

Re: May 2011 Issue

Had flip through and looks good - particulary like the JPS Capri: What a beautiful example, Had a school friend whose Mother had a White 2.0 JPS brought brand new in the long hot summer of '76. It was that car that started me on the Capri path and that particular mother who started me on tall, busty...

Re: VW Golf MK3 Coil pack

As Luxobarge states it is probably the coil pack as they were rubbish - there was a massive supply issue a few years ago where you just couldn't get them due to the level of failures being witnessed: The supplier got the balme but actually it was all down to the mighty VAG pushing suppliers for ever...

Re: What Cars Have You Owned?

Excludingcompany cars- First car was a 1971 1250 Avenger which ended up with a 1600 lump, twin CD175 Strombergs and heavily modified suspension and brakes: Up to 60 none of my mates could catch it, thanks to a 1250 diff: I lent it to friend wh left it "parked" in a ditch after a few shandies. 1973 M...

Re: Halfords website is utter rubbish

This was debated to death on the "old"forum too! Never found them any good personally - either for bike or car stuff: There idea of a quality cycle isn't mine to say the least. ..Crap range, useless staff , majorly over priced: I used to work for one of the there suppliers and they work on huge mark...
