passed an MX5 on the A14, he was doing about 70, I was doing about 90 then once passed the trafficator popped out and I pulled in, just wish I could have seen his face! It really does drive well. I did the job just to be different, even made a new fuel tank, custom exhaust, new "flat" floor, halogen headlights, cd bootloader, parking sensors. and it can go to classic shows as well as custom shows, does up to 60mpg, tax exempt and even with the modern engine emissions exempt, no seat belts and really cheap insurance, what more could you want?

I've noticed this on eBay and am impressed by the quality of the job, well done.
There was another FWD Minor on there a few weeks ago that used a miniMETRO front subframe and transverse A-series but it didn't look halfway as stock as yours and besides; where would the advantage be with changing one A-series for another, bigger one that could just have been fitted North/South in RWD fashion.

IMHO, and please don't be offended here as this is just about taste, the look would be complete with a set of original-style nave plates and rimbellishers to make the wheels look more like o/e ones. That, or some suitable slot mags. Obviously I get that the ET will be vastly different for the FWD hubs, but maybe VW Golf or BMW Mini steels, dressed up as suggested would work?
But such a trivial detail takes nothing from the concept which is one I find myself admiring enormously.

Brilliant stuff! 8-)

Thank you very much John, it's always nice when work is appreciated, I did look at wheel options to try to get close to ogiginal as possible but stud patters proved a problem and it'd cost enough already, again thankyou for your appreciation, Martin

I think it looks great, well done. A truly practical classic. Great to be able to do every-day driving in such an iconic, well-presented old car. fair play to you for undertaking such a big project!

That's an awesome conversion! I think Issigonis would have approved of this. After all, he wanted the Minor to be Front Wheel Drive in the first place.

But do fit some seatbelts. :)
