What Colour is Mr Bean's Mini?

#1 Post by suffolkpete » Tue Feb 07, 2012 5:21 pm

Somebody suggested Limeflower, but I don't think that's right. Is it a genuine BL colour and if so what's the correct name?

Neither of the above, it was actually Citron. Yes, it's a pukka BL shade.
:D

(Limeflower's only really green in trim, on a car's outside it looks nearly beige, like 02's lovely early Maxi 1750, Applejack is a good bit darker and later).

We should have a picture of the car in question methinks:

Now, interestingly enough, we're all correct to a point! On searching, it appears that replicas exist in both Applejack:

and Limeflower:

Tut tut, naughty Corgi!

Hmmm.... Methinks I'll have to watch the videos again. I have the uneasy feeling of just having opened a catering size can of worms.

Citron is a sod to render on the edge LED lit, TFTs and OLED panels that many of us will be looking at. I was at the main PC with its crt monitor when I put up that picture but on the laptop and the phone, both oled, it looks much too yellowish.

So here's some more info and a piccie of a Citron coloured mini that isn't glowing quite so badly:

READ ME please. :D

The top one is a tad "Yellow" for citron (Quite a lot of MGB GT V8s were that colour - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/865284, including my father's first example) but the other is definatley applejack or slime green as I used to call mine before I knew what it was really called. I didn't buy the car for the colour (It was the car I bought when I retired the Midget from regular use); it was a choice of the green Mini 1000 with 25000 miles or a havest gold one with 38000 miles, both at the same price. It turned out to be a good little car.

The top one does look more like Inca but might just be the monitor i'm looking at it on
