Heads up on a house clearance

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Heads up on a house clearance

#1 Post by Mitsuru » Sun Jun 17, 2012 5:49 pm

Okay just as a pre-emptive warning/advanced notice.
My family will be clearing out my Great Aunt's house. They
(Uncle who died 3 years ago and Aunt)were both school
teachers and pack rats!!

The big things will need to be collected.

So they had a workshop on the top floor of the house and never
thrown anything out.

So we will be looking at selling some
tools(that the family doesn't claim)
Filing Cabinets (metal),
Musical instruments and I think there is a piano and an organ.
Glass wear (plates and antique bottles)
and a load of other stuff.

My Great Aunt isn't dead but as she is in hospital we are taking
this time to try and clear as much clutter as possible before she
either moves back in with a load of medical stuff or before she is
moved into a care home.

As much as anyone is willing to pay for it. Whack it on eBay and let it find its own level would be my technique, or offer it on the various LR fora and see whether anyone hasn't got one yet. :)

any old postcards, photographs or other interesting paper items? If so, always interested in that kind of stuff.
